Questions
What is a Codex Pet?
A Pet is a small animated companion that lives in the ChatGPT desktop app. Each Pet is a sprite sheet with poses like idle, waving, running and working, plus a short pet.json file that tells ChatGPT its name.
Is it really free?
Yes. Making and keeping a Dot is free. It's made on our side, so it doesn't use your ChatGPT messages or limits.
What does one of one mean?
Every Dot has its own design DNA. Once you keep a Dot, that design is reserved for you and we won't issue it to anyone else.
What do I get?
A small .zip with your Pet's animated sprite sheet and pet.json, ready for ChatGPT's Pets folder.
Which computers does it work on?
Our step-by-step guide covers ChatGPT on Mac. You can make and keep a Dot on any device, including your phone, and finish setup on your computer.
